TRA/Feminist Sticker War in Madison Neighborhood

By Jane Anderson

MADISON, January 20, 2021 — Madison has always been a city full of diversity, artists, and free expression. One can find countless murals, tags, stickers, and even knitting bombs all over the Eastside and downtown year-round. It is a dynamic, evolving, city-sized canvas. One sticker that has been spotted often in the last few years is Standing For Women’s “Woman: Adult Human Female” sticker. It’s a simple black-and-white design with a dictionary definition on it.

This declaration of immutable fact has apparently become upsetting for some people.

Medley of TRA stickers

Recently, local trans rights activists began taking their sticker war to media platforms and on January 5th, TV Channel 3000 reported on the “hate speech” stickers in one East side neighborhood. They made no mention of the TRA stickers pictured below that are also among those showing up in obnoxious numbers. On one city block there were over 30 of these Pepto-Bismol-and-Crest-colored obscene gesture stickers, affixed to every sign pole, electrical box, and bus shelter. This is quite clear–and quite male–territory marking.

But Channel 3000 focused on the City of Madison Parks Department expressing its “frustration and disappointment with recent hate speech stickers found at Tenney Park,” referring to the Adult Human Female stickers.

They interviewed local trans-identified activist, Tori Vancil who had complained to the neighborhood’s alder, Patrick Heck. Mr. Heck , too was reportedly “disappointed” by the feminist stickers and called them “a tremendous insult to our trans neighbors and friends” without explaining how the word “woman” is insulting. He conveniently ignored the stickers that say “No TERFs on our turf” with the clearly male middle finger pointed at the viewer.

It is hard to believe that this kind of reporting and governing in my town is not satire and the irony of it all is lost. But this is the kind of unreality we have come to expect these days, as people become increasingly isolated, glued to trans-affirmative Youtube videos and disconnected from the real material conditions of life. Trans ideology has taken hold in my city and expresses itself in the media and on the streets.

For such a supposedly marginalized group, trans activists seem to have local government and purported news media wrapped around their middle finger.

How can Channel 3000’s reporting of this neighborhood’s sticker issue be considered legitimate when a) they did not report on the TRA stickers and b) they reported that the feminist stickers were “hate speech” with absolutely nothing to support that?

How does this kind of absurdly biased reporting make it past the editing team at Channel 3000? It smacks of nepotism. Shouldn’t relevant facts be reported and not just selected facts that are presented in a way to convince the reader of something as absurd as the dictionary definition of the word ‘woman’ being hate speech?

Feminist stickering in my neighborhood has been going on subtly and behind the scenes for several years. Below, see a classic Adult Human Female sticker weathered by the change of seasons, that I found in Tenney Park. It had been there for at least two years.

Is this “hate speech”? How? A logical, evidenced answer to this question is still left wanting.

Why are women using the factual definition of the only word we have to name ourselves “transphobic”? How does a mere sticker make these seemingly very fragile people feel “invalidated”?

What happened to “I am what I say I am”, or does that only apply to certain people?

With the increase of TRA stickers in December, we saw an increase in feminist stickers as well, usually covering up the most threatening TRA slogans and imagery.

In addition, we were recently sent some disturbing pictures of messages that seem to be meant for one specific person. Think for a moment: this person might be one of many radical feminists in Madison and surrounding areas. Quite possible! These targeted notes seem far more like a personal vendetta against “T.P.”, don’t they? Wisconsin statutes would indicate that this is harassment at the least, and would even qualify as stalking. Yet TRAs want to claim that this is “activism”?

Personal message

As tensions between trans activists and feminists increase, it is important for the media to get the whole story. We would challenge every reader to find any evidence–“receipts” as they say– that radical feminists go about stalking and threatening people in this manner. How is this activism; how is it helping this supposedly oppressed and–according to them–nearly constantly threatened minority? Look at, really examine, this behaviour. See the methods and patterns of trans “activists” yourself, and make your own conclusions. Thanks to WLRN for publishing this report on what is actually happening.
